The name of the building is a historical tribute to one of the founders of modern New Zealand literature and perhaps Takapuna’s most famous resident, Frank Sargeson, whose cottage still exists in the area today. Walker Architects were responsible for bringing the concept to life, a New Zealand contemporary design where two six-level towers are connected via an atrium walkway. Aspects of the local environment, in particular the dark volcanic colours found throughout Takapuna, were inspirations for the chic palette of exterior materials – including zinc steel cladding, white stone and timber. This is offset by the simple and contemporary evergreen native New Zealand planting that frames the perimeter and communal areas inside the complex.
There are three variants of design plans available, with a choice of one and two bedroom layouts. The high-quality design aesthetic is carried through to the inside, with a modern, neutral colour scheme complementing stylish fittings and finishes, and double glazing ensuring noise is at a minimum.
The elevation means exceptional views are captured from all apartments – those with a north-westerly aspect enjoy visions of Lake Pupuke and the Waitakeres, while the south-easterly-facing homes look out towards the city and Rangitoto. Each apartment has an outdoor living area in the form of an enclosed balcony or courtyard – the ground level courtyards will conveniently feature the latest Astroturf grass to ensure a maintenance-free lifestyle.
Residents share a swimming pool, kid’s playground and barbeque and seating areas, and a sophisticated security system and on-site manager guarantee safety at all times. There’re two lifts per tower and underground car parking available for residents.
